Anil D. Aggarwal is Chief Executive Officer and a
director of Prepaid Media.
Anil D. Aggarwal is a recognized leader in the prepaid card industry. He is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Prepaid Media, a media and information services business that owns and operates the leading print and electronic publications for the prepaid and stored value card industry. In 2005, Prepaid Media created the Prepaid Card Expo, the leading trade show and conference for the prepaid card industry. In early 2007, the Prepaid Card Expo was sold to the Institute for International Research, Inc. (IIR USA), a subsidiary of Informa PLC (LSE: INF.L).
Mr. Aggarwal is also Managing Director of Prepaid Capital, an institutionally-backed angel fund he co-founded in 2007 to invest in early-stage businesses in the prepaid card industry. He is also founder and Chairman of the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association (NBPCA), the leading non-profit, inter-industry trade organization for network branded prepaid cards. In its first membership year, 2006-2007, the NBPCA attracted more than 30 members including many of the foremost organizations in the industry.
From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Aggarwal was Chief Executive Officer and a director of TSYS Prepaid, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Total System Services (TSYS) (NYSE: TSS). Previously, he co-founded Clarity Payment Solutions, a leading venture capital-backed prepaid card processor, for which he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from inception in 1999 until 2004, when the company was sold to TSYS for $53 million in cash. During his leadership, the company grew to more than $20 million in annual revenue.
In 1998, Mr. Aggarwal co-founded AAA Growers, Ltd, a World Bank commercially funded agriculture venture. One of the largest farming operations in Kenya, AAA Growers exports fruit and vegetables to many European markets. Mr. Aggarwal serves as a non-executive director.
In addition to being a proven serial entrepreneur, Mr. Aggarwal has held positions as a corporate lawyer and certified public accountant with international law and accounting firms including LeBoeuf Lamb, Kirkpatrick & Lockhart and Price Waterhouse. He also has served as law clerk to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and law intern to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
In 1995, Mr. Aggarwal received his Juris Doctor degree cum laude, with honors and a concentration in business organizations and finance law, from Boston University School of Law. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Albright College in 1989 at the age of 19. He is a recipient of the 2005 Albright College Distinguished Alumnus Award and the 2006 Young Lawyers Chair from Boston University School of Law. Mr. Aggarwal serves on the Board of Visitors of Boston University School of Law.
Mr. Aggarwal is quoted extensively in trade and consumer publications, has appeared on CNNfn, and speaks often at payments industry events and educational institutions. He resides in New York City.
